Pastor Herman and Co-Pastor Shineka Dixon

Pastor Herman and Co-Pastor Shineka Dixon have two wonderful sons, Darius (who now lives in heaven) and Micah, Mijah, Re’Osha, AJ, a granddaughter Adriana, and a host of “other acquired children” They have been in ministry for over 20 years and pastor Bethel Worship Center Church in Chesapeake, Virginia.  The vision of Bethel Worship Center is to birth, mature, equip, and send out others that know who they are in Christ and proclaim the gospel of Jesus.

The Dixons met at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina just after Herman came back from serving in Desert Storm in the United States Army.  There Herman received a Bachelors with a double major in Biology and Chemistry, and Shineka received a Bachelors in Architectural Engineering.  While in North Carolina, they began to serve and train for ministry.  After completing their degrees, they moved to Hampton, Virginia and Shineka accepted Herman’s hand in marriage at Bethel Temple Church.

Once at Bethel Temple, God began to grow the two together as He grew them up in Him.  They began to help lead various ministries including the Young Adult Ministry and take classes on church planting.  Herman graduated with his Masters degree in Christian Leadership Development from Liberty University.  He will soon pursue his PHD.  After many years of preparation and receiving their ordination, Pastor Herman and Co-Pastor Shineka Dixon decided it was time to plant their current church, Bethel Worship Center.

Along with developing the church, they assist in the community while being very active in their children’s lives.  The Dixons coach youth athletic events such as track and field, football, and basketball.  They also hold community give-aways, counsel families and marriages, and aid families and single parents to become consistent and stable providers.

Herman currently works at Bethel Worship Center full-time.  Shineka works at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia. They both are currently enrolled at Liberty University Online.

The motto of how the Dixons live their life:

1. Love God

 2. Be willing to do whatever He says

3. Encourage others to do the same
